Children born prematurely are at risk for brain damage that may affect later development. Communicative development of preterm babies, most frequently, has been assessed using the MBCDIs, the Bayley scales and the ASQ. In this study we assess Spanish-speaking preterm babies with PVL to determine the validity of the MBCDIs, the ASQ and the PLS-4. First, we determine if the measures can identify communicative differences in pre and full-term babies. Secondly, we contrast the measures for validity. Results show that the MBCDI can identify differences between infants, but no validity was established. |
