Abstract
Understanding and predicting reading achievement and reading difficulties is not as straightforward as you’d expect if printed texts were “just speech written down.” This issue will be examined from a multidisciplinary perspective, drawing on research findings from studies of literacy development from the preschool through adolescent years.
